How Do You Know When It’s Time To Start or Restart Your Real Estate Career?

If you’ve been successful in another sales industry and have considered moving into real estate, now is the right time to make that transition. Despite what you may hear about the current market, the conditions today can create a strong foundation for a lasting and successful career.

Joining real estate in the worst of times. I entered the industry during a time that was widely considered unfavorable. It was during the Great Recession, yet I was able to build a thriving business. Starting in a challenging market forces you to build the right habits, focus on the fundamentals, and develop the work ethic needed to succeed regardless of market conditions. In contrast, many agents who entered the business during the housing boom of the pandemic period are now leaving the industry because they lack those fundamentals.

A place for every agent. If you’re one of those agents, we have a place for you. We still operate a large-scale marketing and lead generation system, and we continue to receive more leads than our current team can handle. While others are downsizing, we are expanding. Our strong financial position allows us to keep growing even in a shifting market. If you’re a new agent, this is the time to start with the right structure and mindset.

For existing agents, it might be time to reassess your next step. I’ve spoken with agents who were hesitant to join a team, believing it would be a step back in their careers. But when I looked at their numbers, they had only sold one or two homes in the past year. In contrast, agents on our team sell four times the market average. The math speaks for itself—unless you’re consistently closing more than 15 transactions a year, joining a team could significantly increase your income.

However, if you are closing fewer than 15 deals annually, you likely have the skill to serve clients, but you may be missing the tools, systems, and support to scale your business. That’s where the right team can make a difference.
